Artist Statement

I love beauty and things of beauty. That is what I paint. Though I know it is all in the eye of the beholder. Whether it is a flower or landscape, a creature from nature, the female figure or visage, and abstract design from my imagination or just random shapes and colors, I strive to find beauty in the object or subject and express my feeling about them in an imaginative and creative way. My art reflects the things that interest me in my life. I have an innate sense of color which has been enhanced by many years of interior design, my vocation of over 40 years. My painting mediums are watercolor, oil and acrylic depending on my mood and interest at the moment.

About

I have been painting for over 50 years. I've taken lessons from various teachers through the years and have been a part of several workshops in and out of Los Angeles. For fourteen years I was a member of StudioEleven which is an artist-run cooperative comprised of 20-30 students. Our teacher and mentor was Tom Wudl. Our many exhibits were held at the studio itself and also at The Colburn, The Ebell , the Nutra and SMC performing Arts Center, Santa Monica. They were quite successful and well attended. Since then I have painted with Malaika Latty in her Los Feliz studio. Recently I joined ART@Life which led me to painting abstracts in acrylic. I am fortunate to have a spacious and light filled studio in a converted garage which is detatched from my home in Hancock Park, just 15 steps away.
