Photographer Michael Becker will be exhibiting his intriguing and recognizable views of a city that is a mystery like we have never seen.
Becker said “The experience of visiting Havana and capturing the bold landscape of an urban relic and the vibrant people was a challenge I cherished.” He also added “I wanted to make this work about the beauty of a city that has had a difficult history of decline and poverty.”
The images are enormous, float under acrylic sheets and the effect makes them dynamic.
He was granted rare access to rehearsals of the Cuban National Ballet and the world famous Tropicana nightclub in Havana where Becker photographed spectacular images in a world stopped in time. His spotlight through the windows of Museo Hemingway and Baroque facades are just some of the images that few Americans have seen in person.
About the Artist: Michael Becker is a Los Angeles based photographer/artist that studies the complexities of human form.
By playing with movement Becker plays with the compositional idea of shape, color, and space. Strictly using only his eye to capture the nuance of the subject matter, he does very little with photoshop and relies only on cropping with some saturation of color.
