About

Nagui Achamallah was born in Alexandria, Egypt. His interest in painting developed in college, and while in medical school, he joined the independent fine art study program at the University of Alexandria Atelier. As a student, he participated in several University group shows and competitions and won several scholastic awards. In 1973, he had his first Solo show at the University Physician's Club. In 1975 his second exhibition was held at the French Cultural Center in Alexandria.

Nagui produces over 50 paintings each year. His preferred medium is painting, with acrylics and oils. His style has evolved over the last 40 years, but it continues to reflect Middle Eastern and South Mediterranean influences.

“The subjects of my paintings are varied. Many of the paintings depict human figures going about their daily lives, with their joys, fears and struggles. They are captives of time, their instincts, and the reason for their existence. But I might be best if I allow the images to speak for themselves and reveal their own stories.”
