John Clendening's art has been recognized nationally by the Oil Painters of America, the National Art Club, the Salmagundi Arts Club and the U.S. State Department Art in Embassies program. John received formal art training from the Corcoran School of Art, followed by a successful career as Chief of Design for the National Air & Space Museum. In addition to 27 solo art exhibits in galleries from California to New York, John's artwork is on permanent display in several museums and the Kennedy Space Center. NASA has published his work, and his combat art is on permanent display at the Pentagon.
Artworks John created are in the collections at Pentagon and Marine Corps Art Museum, at the Navy Yard; The New Britian Museum of American Art in Connecticut; the Columbia Museum of Art in South Carolina; and the South Carolina State Museum, also in Columbia; and in the art collection of the National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C.
