My paintings express "realities" which are possible only in spirit. The various series on this site explore elemental energies, ethereal landscapes, and our human journey. Each series is a distinct approach, yet they all express a sense of wonder and, taken together, become a meditation on the veil between seen and unseen.
Recently, I embarked on three new exhibits expressing earth's vital energies: water, fire and wind. In 2011, "The Life of Water" interpreted the power of water through partially abstracted imagery of waves, waterfalls, rain, wild seas, and rivers breaking through land.
In 2012, "The Life of Fire," celebrates the creative force that explodes from the most destructive element with images that reach beyond the surface. Experimental textures range from 3-dimensional layers of canvas to thin plastics and transparencies. Working with the spirit of transformation, painting fire led to transforming the painting mediums themselves.

In 2013, expect even more transformation as "The Life of Wind" continues experimenting with transparencies and materials that transcend the form.
In previous works, "The Seekers Series" of scrolls and "The Sepia Series" of landscapes depict places that do not exist in the material world but resonate in the language of the mind. Using a stain technique on raw linen in a muted palette, those earlier series might appear the opposite of the bold energy and vibrant colors in water and fire. But like "The Seekers Series" and "The Sepia Series" the new paintings also reach for order amidst wilderness, an underlying balance in the universe.
