Ripped from home, culture and identity, stripped of human rights and family, forced into free labor, minds and bodies raped and tortured through the centuries—our Soul’s Cry! and still we stand. America, in all it's transformation, has never changed it's treatment of Black people. The battle against the brutality wages on daily—I am here now, with the strength and fight of my ancestors—to speak for us now through this artistic medium.
My show—a reimagining of history—is a taking back of culture and truthful depictions of America's evils that are too often swept under the rug. My work brings hope and motivation for others to join the fight for change. As an inspired artist, I am serving as a recorder, storyteller, and advocate for these souls…and for my soul to keep thriving.
About the Artist: I am a fine artist, arts instructor, and owner of Buena Vision Art Studio. My work has consistently dealt with educating and informing the viewer. I am influenced by the music scene, and my earlier work highlighted a tribute to Jazz, Blues, Gospel, and Entertainment legends to educate the viewer about those who laid the foundation to what we hear today.
