What is the CA Open?
The CA Open Exhibition is an annual juried art competition sponsored by TAG Gallery. The exhibition recognizes excellence in a diverse range of media and offers artists the opportunity to win cash awards and exhibit their finest work on Museum Row.

How do I label images?

All images must be formatted to the following specifications:
File format: JPEG, RGB color
File dimensions: No smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side
File resolution: 72 ppi/dpi (standard web resolution)
File size: 5 MB maximum
What are the maximum dimensions?
Hanging works are limited to 60” height and 40” width including frame and may no exceed 30 lbs. per unit.
Sculptures are limited to 48” height and 20” depth and may not exceed 40 lbs. including base.
Video works may not exceed 10 minutes in length.
How much does it cost to enter?
$50 for the first three entries. Additional entries are an additional $10 each.
Maximum of 6 entries. All fees are non-refundable and payable through callforentry.org.
How do I know if I am eligible to enter?
The CA Open is open to all residents in the United States, 18 years or older, working in fine art media.
Categories include: Computer Art, Drawing, Mixed Media, Painting, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture.
No video, film, installations or artwork that requires special installation or assembly.
Work must be original and completed since 2014.
Can I submit one of my prints?
We only accept pieces in their original medium. For instance, if you work in printmaking with a printing press and create multiple editions, we could accept any number edition in a series of prints because it is your original medium. However, if you create prints of a painting, we cannot accept a print because it is not the original medium.

Accepted artists will receive instructions for hand delivery and shipping upon receiving their acceptance letter
What are the specifications for submitting my work once accepted?
All work must be original, unsold work, and the artist must own the sole copyright to the art. Delivered work must match the image juried. Substitutions of accepted works will not be allowed. Frames, mats, and wiring must be professional quality. No saw-tooth handers. Wiring must be in good condition and substantial enough for the weight of the artwork. 2-D works on paper must be framed and under Plexiglas. All accepted work must remain at the gallery for the duration of the exhibit. Prices quoted on the entry form may not be changed after acceptance.
How much commission will I get if I sell my work?
All work must be available for sale. There is a 50% commission to TAG Gallery on sales during the exhibition and 30 days subsequent to the close of the exhibition. No work may be removed from the gallery until the close of the exhibition. TAG Gallery will also keep the work on the website for 6 months after the exhibition closes.
Is the gallery liable for loss, theft or damage of artwork?
Artwork will be handled with the utmost care. Work will be insured while on display at TAG Gallery. TAG will not insure Artwork during transit.
What about copyright information?
TAG Gallery reserves the right to reproduce accepted artwork for publicity and documentary purposes. TAG Gallery allows researchers and commercial filmmakers to use the gallery as a backdrop. All copyrights of the artwork are retained by the artist.
What is the agreement?
The submission of entries to this competition shall be understood to constitute an agreement on the part of the artist to all rules and conditions as set forth in the prospectus. Entries not meeting the criteria listed will be disqualified and the entry fee will not be refunded.
