The year 2020 laid bare the existential threat of the Covid 19 Pandemic as it disrupted all elements of society, shaking our collective confidence and stoking feelings of fear, grief and loss.
As humans we keep pressing forward, pushing through the chaos. As an artist, I was compelled to create and explore during this past year of mass confusion, fractured norms, tattered expectations, perverse humor and ultimately hope.
Art is my coping mechanism.
About the Artist: Los Angeles native Elyse Wyman, earned her BA in Fine Arts (Cum Laude) from UCLA, where she studied with Richard Diebenkorn, Jan Stussy, Llyn Foulkes and Robert Heinecken. She furthered her art education in Paris, at L’Académie de la Grande Chaumière. In the area of fine arts, she has explored both figurative and non-figurative subject matter. Her current artwork combines diverse media such as sculpture, painting and photography, often with a focus on feminist art.
