Artist Statement
“Most of my art evolves from various aspects of my life that evoke my senses. As an abstract painter, I communicate my emotions with unique blends of textures, vibrant colors and forms, creating a sense of movement and energy. My work explores conceptual interpretations with environmental, architectural, and figurative narratives and blurs the boundaries between various levels of abstractions reflecting my love for outdoors, the vitality of urban environments, and the fabric of different cultures. With an expressive visual style, I enjoy conveying my imagination and vision in creating something new and innovative rather than recognizable imagery by incorporating a variety of original and experimental techniques, gel mediums, and bold compositions. It is always satisfying when my work resonates with the viewer, sparks their imagination, and generates a joyful visual journey”.
About
Eren Alptekin is a Newport Beach, CA based multi-disciplinary artist creating contemporary abstract paintings in mixed media. Eren’s award-winning work is inspired by her life experiences from the natural splendor of California to rich textures of urban life to her extensive travels. She is best known for her expressive coastal, architectural, and figurative paintings juxtaposed with layers of texture and luminous colors.
Eren earned her MS degree in Architecture from Columbia University in New York City, after receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master’s degrees, majoring in Architecture from Istanbul Technical University in Turkey. Similar to her design work, Eren’s art has evolved over the years with her architectural background always shining through.
An internationally collected artist, Eren Alptekin has exhibited her paintings in numerous galleries and juried art shows for more than twenty years in California. Eren’s paintings have been displayed in public and private collections throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Eren is a member of Los Angeles Art Association, Orange County Fine Arts Association, and a juried exhibitor at Laguna Art-A-Fair. She is represented by TAG Gallery in Los Angeles, Hugo Rivera Gallery in Laguna Beach, and Showcase Gallery in Costa Mesa, California.
