TREES opens August 3, 2022 at TAG Gallery, 5458 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90036. TAG is open 1pm-7pm, Wed-Sun
As with my previous series of artworks, I try to reflect on the life we all share. The things we see and do, all parts of the vast here and now. The subject matter that I explore incorporates various elements of color, shapes, size, and scale… with a bit of engineering, and a touch of nostalgia. My current series is all about trees. I marvel at the incredible variety, the beautiful seasonal colors, and the truly colossal sizes that many trees become. And most significantly, their ability to help the planet sustain our gift of life.
TREES are a challenge for any artist who wishes to interpret the wonders of nature. This series was certainly a challenge for me…, involving all new materials and vastly different ways of applying those materials. Thankfully there are many other artists out there who are willing to share the methods involved, and their obvious expertise is appreciated.
The importance of having and sustaining the desire to engage with life, with your given talent… it’s a gift… keep at it.
And enjoy.
About the artist: Gary Polonsky focuses on the goals he has set for himself. To capture a thin slice of our "American" experience, in all of it's quotidian glory. By offering his humble attempt producing something beautiful, fun, and lasting. Something, that hopefully reminds us of the wonder and richness of now.
