Artist Statement
As an immigrant you never lose that sense of placement, and belonging, and finding where you can anchor your roots. My search for this answer adds to the curiosity to explore different mediums to add to that experience.
What might be considered coincidental and overlooked, I try to witness and preserve.
Playing around with contrasting materials and allowing myself to be free from constraints.
I explore different perspectives of my environment in hopes to connect with the viewer. I want to take part in creating a new language that can be universally understood.
L.A. certainly has it’s affects in contributing to my growth as an artist. I want to present hope in a moment of bleakness and show how we are all connected sharing this space together. How we leave our mark on this city, our prints in the asphalt of our lives, the cracks, the dirt, the bad and the good.
I see myself like a seed sprouting through cracked cement. Breaking through in an urban environment and reflecting its influence on my work and myself. I live for seeing things for what they might be, for what they suggest, for what they represent.
