Laurence Barbera

About the Artist

Laurence Barbera is an exceptionally gifted oil painter whose work captures the raw beauty, emotional depth, and quiet strength of the human form. After a 30-year career in the film industry, Laurence felt called to a new creative path—one that would allow him to explore vulnerability, form, and emotion through his own lens. That path led him to the canvas.

Inspired by artists like Lucian Freud, Egon Schiele, and Alyssa Monks, Laurence found his voice in painting nude figures—works that are both, modern and timeless, intimate and unflinching. Whether working with brushes or palette knives, he creates vivid, expressive studies that highlight the abstract beauty of the human body—its shadows, angles, and unexpected elegance.

His paintings range from large, striking centerpieces to delicate, smaller-scale works—each one inviting viewers to look deeper, feel more, and engage with the figure in a new way. Laurence’s art doesn’t simply fill space—it transforms it. His pieces evoke emotion, spark conversation, and elevate any collection they join.

We invite you to explore Laurence’s portfolio and discover a piece that speaks to you. Every painting is a one-of-a-kind expression of the human experience—ready to become part of yours.

“Man’s naked form...belongs to no particular moment in history; it is eternal and can be looked upon with joy by the people of all ages”– Auguste Rodin.
