Negin Haghighi-Mismas
Born in sunny Southern California, my life’s journey took a pivotal turn as I returned to Iran with my parents amidst the contrasting political and historical tumult of Iran. It was there, in the eye of the chaotic storm, it as at my young age of 7, when I discovered my sanctuary and my voice in art. Despite the external chaos, painting became not just as my haven—a vibrant world where colors and textures spoke the words I could not speak aloud. This world of creativity became my undeniable companion, a coping mechanism, offering peace and a voice through the tumult.
As the narrative of my life started unfolding, I found myself on a conventional path, expected of me by my surrounding society, with aspirations toward the medical field during my high school years. Yet, the unstoppable call of my true passion—art—could not be ignored. Embracing my heart's directive, with my late father's advice to follow my passion, I turned from the expected journey to find my true self in the world of fine arts, attaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from a prestigious University in Tehran.
After returning to California in the 90s, I ventured into digital and tech world, merging my artistic skills with the technology and software media industry. This new path taught me how to apply my creativity in practical ways, especially in problem-solving within the tech world. However, my commitment to painting never faded—it has remained my sanctuary, where I can translate emotions into colors and textures on canvas. My art is about sharing those feelings and energies, wondering if viewers can sense the emotion and inspiration behind each piece. Can you feel and read my message through the hues and strokes laid bare before you?
Having showcased my work in several exhibitions, I continue to be relentlessly passionate about sharing my inner world with others. As I look forward to dedicating more time to my art, my journey is one of continual exploration—of self, of emotion, and of the profound connections that art can forge in us all.
