Genie Davis Talks Pride Shows at TAG

Art and Cake, an online magazine, reviewed our exhibitions from June 2021.

“…Lane’s work creates the illusion of seeing into and within a flower, almost touching the tenderness of the petals.

Tenderness exemplifies the qualities in both Waiblinger and Henisey’s solo works as well, and also so many of the images in each of the two group shows – in each, there is a gentle willingness to look beneath the surface and into the depths – of love, relationship, longing, and the vibrancy of humanity itself.”

A Beautiful Chaos

"This body of work looks carefully at the difficulty, pain, carelessness, and ultimately the reassessment of values which were strengthen by experiences over the COVID-19 pandemic." — David Stewart Klein

“I began mulling on the idea of Passing Through after discovering a piece of garden sculpture with a hole drilled through it. I fixated on the idea of having one thing in front of me and something else peeking out from the other side, beyond my reach. We knew we were only passing through paradise on Kauai, which served as a reminder that we would continue to pass through and emerge from the pandemic as well.” — Karen Hochman Brown

"In part, my recent trip to Cape Town, South Africa, has influenced this recent work in that I was privileged to have been able to work alongside new, younger African artists—both male and female—who constantly sought newness through their music videos, painting, and sculpting." — Emil Rutenberg

"My underlying theme encompasses a study of man’s interaction with nature. Every image asks a similar question to the viewer: can man collaborate with nature without diminishing its astonishing beauty?" — Tom Wheeler
