I was born in the Midwest and grew up in Los Angeles. After taking class at The Brentwood Art Center in LA, I soon began to teach watercolor painting there in the 1980's. My work was shown and accepted to The National Watercolor Society and Women Painters West, as well as a few other organizations.
After teaching and showing my work for several years I put my art career on hold, taking a corporate job to support my young children as a single mother. It took nearly 30 years to make my way back to creating art, this time through photography and mixed media. The imagery that continues to intrigue me, revolves around the beauty of the garden with the focus on color, repetition of pattern and texture taking center stage. I find the garden to be restorative, it brings me comfort as it reminds me of my grandfather's garden.
I present my photographic images in several different ways. Some images of flowers and succulents are printed on acrylic sheets and backed with brushed aluminum, giving a sleek and contemporary look. My recent photographs are printed on fine art paper and hand embellished with color pencil, providing a more painterly effect. These are presented as individual prints as well as mounted on painted wood panels.
