Douglas Teiger

“Each large, abstract oil painting reflects the sense of joy and serenity that emerges through meditation and the constant pursuit of inspiration,” explains artist Douglas Teiger. “This work is a dance of co-creation with Spirit. In this dance, Spirit’s energy moves through me as I connect paint to canvas. The fine art is a manifestation of openness, creation, and love.”

Douglas begins each painting session with a meditation that requests spiritual assistance in a process of heartfelt, loving co-creation. The color, pattern, form, and texture of his work suggest both the depth and lightness, randomness, and intention of human existence. They are equally bold and gentle reminders of the need to pause, reflect and be ever-present in our world.

About the Artist: Douglas Teiger grew up in Northern New Jersey. He attended Cornell University’s School of Architecture and received a Bachelor of Architecture and a master’s degree in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica. He moved to Los Angeles in 1984 and began his art career with an exhibit of architectural renderings at the Urban Center of New York City. Teiger currently shows at the TAG Gallery in Los Angeles. He maintains an art studio in the Hawthorne Arts Complex in Hawthorne, California.

Karen Hochman Brown

“When the realities of ‘sheltering in place’ sunk in, I began traveling through memories of other times and plac- es via my photographic archives. The cloud imagery comes from around the globe—seas to mountaintops. The flowers are from gardens closer to home. I mold the images using ArtMatic Designer by U&I Software, a modular graphics synthesizer program, to create distortions and reflections of my photographs. I finish my work using Adobe Photoshop to assemble and augment the layers into digital collages.

I chose large-format acrylic prints for this exhibition to enhance the magnificence of the cloudscapes. The work floats on the wall without a frame. The polished edges of the acrylic reflect the encased artwork adding an extra illusion of depth.”

About the Artist: Karen Hochman Brown is a Los Angeles-based photographer using software to manipulate her photographic images. Karen has had solo shows with Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH), The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation, Santa Barbara, CA, Gallery 825 and TAG Gallery Los Angeles, California Center for Digital Art, Santa Ana, CA, The Gallery at Los Angeles County Arboretum, Arcadia, CA, Yuma Art Center, Yuma, AZ. She has participated in numerous group shows in the Los Angeles area and throughout the United States.

Emil Rutenberg

“As an artist I use three different mediums to express myself—sculpture, sketches, and paintings,” explains the South African born artist and award-winning fashion designer. Emil’s collection focuses on the human form in a variety of media that include clay, resin, metal, charcoals, pastels, and paint.

“Goals are set but invariably change,” says Emil on his fine art practice. “In every case embarking upon the creative process offers choices that are pivotal to the outcome of each fine art object. Often it seems that by relinquishing the set goals I discover newness, which is the lifeblood of my creativity.”

About the Artist: Emil Rutenberg was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and is a Los Ange- les artist who maintains studios in Inglewood, California and Woodstock, Cape Town. His work is held privately by a number of national and international collectors. Emil is represented by TAG in Los Angeles and has shown work in various southern California venues including the Bruce Lurie Gallery, where in 2018 he had a solo show of figurative paintings and drawings.
